CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas track and field teams will wrap up the indoor regular season this weekend by sending four athletes to compete in the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. and one athlete to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
In Fayetteville,
Jaden Schneeberger will throw for the Bears in the shot put and weight throw events.
Schneeberger battled in the weight throw competition in last weekend's Wooo Pig Classic, placing second with a mark of 20.10 meters (65-11.5). Before that, he competed in the shot put and weight throw events at the Washburn Open and Multi. Schneeberger earned a first-place finish in the weight throw in that meet with a 19.56-meter mark (64-2.25). In the shot put, he placed fourth with a throw of 16.61 meters (54-6).
Schneeberger is the current indoor school record holder in shot put, holding a 16.80-meter mark.
Jack Dingman will be representing the Purple and Gray in Boston, competing in the one-mile race. His last time out was at the Washburn Open and Multi meet the last weekend in January. In that meet, he competed in the one-mile run, finishing sixth out of 58 competitors with a time of 4:04.96.
Dingman currently holds the Central Arkansas indoor school record in the one-mile run, setting it back in 2024 with a time of 4:03.39.
The women's side will feature
Madeline Hill in the 3000-meter run,
Joia Perry in the weight throw and
Bailee Villavaso in the pole vault.
In Hill's last 3000-meter run, she placed sixth overall out of 30 competitors with a time of 9:50.66 at the Arkansas Invitational on January 16.
Perry is coming off a first-place finish in the weight throw event at last weekend's Wooo Pig Classic. Her throw of 20.08 meters (65-10.5) was nearly 2.5 meters farther than the next closest athlete.
Previously, Perry broke her own indoor school record in the weight throw at the Washburn Open and Multi with a mark of 20.42 meters (67-0).
Villavaso enters the meet coming off a fifth-place finish in the pole vault at the Wooo Pig Classic, clearing 3.85 meters (12-7.5).
She, too, previously set a new indoor school record in the pole vault at the Washburn Open and Multi, clearing 4.02m (13-2.25), smashing her own record by nearly a foot and a half.
The Bears' events will kick off on Friday at 1:15 p.m. with
Jaden Schneeberger in the men's weight throw. He will be followed by
Jack Dingman in the one-mile run in Boston at 1:20, followed by
Madeline Hill at 1:30 in the 3000-meter run, then
Joia Perry will compete in the women's weight throw at 5:00.
On Saturday,
Bailee Villavaso will get the ball rolling for the Bears, competing in the pole vault at 10:30 a.m. Schneeberger will complete the meet for Central Arkansas at 1:45 p.m. with the shot put.
