FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas track and field teams went back to Fayetteville today to compete in the Wooo Pig Classic. The Bears compiled 41 top-ten finishes, including one first-place finish, one second-place finish, and five third-place finishes.
On the women's side,
Joia Perry claimed the top spot in the weight throw event with a 20.08m mark. Joy nance followed with a 17.47m throw to place third.
Serena Degollado took fifth with a throw of 16.08m and
Malea Wiggins finished seventh, marking at 15.75m.
Abby Machesky set a new indoor school record in the 800m run. Her time of 2:12.27 was good for a sixth-place finish overall.
In the 200m dash,
Raghan Allen earned a third-place finish after running a 23.85.
Danyelle Poole finished fifth with a time of 24.14 and
Brenae Allen took eighth, coming in at 24.34.
Jane Musengwa used a throw of 13.82m in the shot put to claim third-place.
Serena Degollado took tenth-place with a 12.86m throw.
In the 3000m run,
Sequoya Prentice placed fourth, coming in at 10:11.01 and
Alexis Frick took ninth, finishing in 10:45.77.
Zoe Williams qualified for the finals round in the 60m hurdles, running an 8.72 in the qualifying round. In the finals, Williams came in sixth with a time of 8.64.
On the men's side, the Bears claimed five of the top-ten spots in the weight throw.
Jaden Schneeberger earned second with a 20.10m throw and
Devyn Steingisser was just behind in third-place with throw of 18.58m.
Treavor Green finished eighth with a 17.18m mark,
Zahir Mcphail took ninth with a 16.58m throw and
Eli Jones claimed tenth, throwing 14.89m.
Sam Morales claimed fourth in the 3000m, running an 8:47.04 and
William Wyatt Hill finished sixth with an 8:50.22 time.
Four Central Arkansas athletes claimed top-ten finishes in the one-mile race.
Logan Dingman placed third, running a 4:12.08 and
Trae Baker finished sixth with a time of 4:16.57. Sam Morales came in ninth after coming in at 4:23.33 and
William Wyatt Hill claimed tenth with a 4:25.50 time.
Byron Holt and
Sloan Jones qualified for the 60m hurdles finials. Holt ran a 7.99 in the qualifying round, while Jones ran an 8.13. In the finals, Holt finished in 7.98 to claim fourth-place and Jones finished eighth with a time of 8.11.
In the long jump,
Brayden Burris placed fourth with a 7.15m jump and
Maverick Walker leaped 7.03m to take eighth-place.
Trae Baker ran a 1:53.51 in the 800m to place fourth, followed closely by
Ky Bickford who ran a 1:53.84 to finish fifth.
Eli Jones claimed fifth in the shot put event, marking at 16.62m and
Zahir Mcphail threw a 14.52m to place ninth.
Bears head coach,
Josey Weaver said the team is starting to peak at the right time.
"We took another step forward today. I'm really proud of how our team competed and supported one another," Weaver said. "We're starting to come together at the right time.
Abby Machesky also broke a school record today — so proud to see her hard work paying off."
