TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Central Arkansas cross country teams took part in the Crimson Classic on Friday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The women's team finished in 13
th place out of 22 teams, while the men finished 12
thof 20.
For the women,
Madeline Hill narrowly missed setting a new school record, finishing in 22
nd place with a time of 20:35.4.
"[Madeline] ran tough and gutsy from the start," Bears head coach,
Josey Weaver, said. "It's been a pleasure watching her grow and turn into the runner she has become!"
The Bears saw a slew of new personal best times in the women's 6k race.
Abby Machesky shaved eight seconds off her previous record time, finishing her run in 22:00.3 and coming in 85
th place.
Arizona Blankenship also took eight seconds off her PR, crossing the finish line at 22:03.0 and placing 89
th.
Alexis Frick placed 118
th, coming in at 22:36.9.
Kayli Myers nearly dropped her personal best by two minutes, finishing at 22:59.7 and placing 131
st.
Liz Browning also set a new personal best time, finishing her 6k at 23:17.7 in 140
th place.
Brooklyn Nicholson took 148
th place, coming in at 23:52.3.
On the men's side,
Jack Dingman led the Bears, taking home 43
rd place, finishing in 25:04.3.
"Jack paced us up front as usual and set the tone for our men from the start. He's put in a ton of work and starting to get rewarded for his effort," Weaver said.
Mason Bickle came in 57
th place, crossing the line at 25:20.7.
Trae Baker came in just behind Bickle, finishing in 25:25.8 and placing 64
th.
Ky Bickford placed 85
th, finishing at 25:47.8.
Logan Dingman placed 115
th, finishing his 8k in 26:17.2.
Samuel Morales finished in 137
th, crossing the finish line at 26:44.9. William Hill finished his run at 26:59.8 in 147
th place. Beau Melacon crossed the line at 27:31.1 in 158
th place.
Weaver said the race was a good lead up to the ASUN Championships for both teams. "Both teams took another step in the right direction today as we gear up for the ASUN Cross Country Championships in two weeks," Weaver said. "We have learned how to run our race and execute our race plan the past two meets."
Next, the Bears will gear up for the ASUN Championships on November 1
