Hyde Breaks School Record, Hanson Leads Men in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The University of Central Arkansas men's and women's track & field teams closed out the Indoor Gorilla Classic on Saturday. Gracie Hyde posted the best mark in the mile in program history for the women, Alex Hanson led the men with a sixth-place finish.
 
Gracie Hyde won the mile with her career-best run of 4:54.32 and set a new UCA record in the process.
 
Erin Woodward finished in second place with a career-best run of 10:00.31 in the 3,000m. With a season-best mark of 10:44.86, Casey Gore came in 32nd. Bekah Bostian clocked a personal-best time of 10:46.22 and placed 33rd. Julia Clark posted the best effort of her career with a time of 10:51.87 and came in 40th. With a career-best run of 10:53.11, Kennedy Timmerman placed 41st.
 
Max Nores led the Bears in the 3,000m with a career-best time of 8:34.00 and placed seventh. Jared Touart came in 16th with a personal-best run of 8:44.59. Simon Schneider posted the best effort of his career with an 8:48.20 and finished 21st. Tate Whaley notched a 46th-place mark of 9:05.02, which is the fastest of his career. With a run of 9:08.83, Parker Jackson came in 52nd.
 
With a run of 4:14.87, Alex Hanson placed sixth in the mile. James Kees clocked a 31st-place time of 4:24.03, which is the best of his career. Brett Borchert came in 62nd with a season-best mark of 4:34.76.
 
Jesse Applewhite posted an eighth-place run of 1:54.66 in the 800m, which is a career best. Niklas Iking finished in ninth with a personal-best effort of 1:54.94. With a run of 1:55.37, Jared Hamilton came in 15th. Nores came in 49th with a career-best mark of 1:59.59. Walter Reed notched a 59th-place time of 2:00.18.
 
Gore finished 47th in the 800m with a mark of 2:26.34. Kaylei Gober came in 63rd with a time of 2:34.11.
 
Logan Hall posted a 13th-place height of 1.97m (6-5.50) in the high jump.
 
Malik Beasley notched a throw of 14.08m (46-2.50) and placed 27th in the shot put. Aidan Patton notched a toss of 13.10m (42-11.75) and finished 32nd.
 
The squad of Ryan Yarde, Applewhite, Iking, and Hanson came in 15th with a combined run of 3:21.08 in the 4x400m relay.
 
The Bears return to the track for the 2020 Southland Conference Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 1-2.
