STILLWATER, Okla. – Max Nores and Casey Gore led the Central Arkansas men's and women's cross country teams at the OSU Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday. The men finished 10th, while the women placed ninth.

Both the men's 8K course and the women's 6K course feature some of the nation's top courses in terms of difficulty. The course features multiple rolling hills, including a difficult up-hill portion leading into the final 1K. Both the men and women posted really good times, including several career-best times, despite the course difficulty.

Nores recorded a mark of 25:21.2 and placed 28th. Jared Touart clocked a 64th-place time of 26:18.6. With an effort of 26:33.4, Hunter Henderson came in 78th. Simon Schneider finished right behind in 79th with a run of 26:34.7. Tate Whaley came in 80th with a time of 26:37.4. With a mark of 26:48.6, Parker Jackson placed 84th. Thomas Cain posted a 103rd-place mark of 27:23.7. Jared Hamilton notched an effort of 27:30.5 and came in 107th. TJ Robinson produced a personal-best run of 27:35.2 and finished 109th.

On the women's side, Gore led the way with an effort of 23:17.4 and placed 40th. Kennedy Timmerman produced a 47th-place mark of 23:26.8. With a career-best time of 23:36.2, Anna Jeffcoat finished 52nd. Bekah Bostian placed 68th with a run of 23:51.0. Marie Møller Schmidt posted a personal-best effort of 23:55.5 and came in 71st. With the best time of her career, Emily Newberry placed 79th with a 24:14.3. Anna Bommes added another career best for the Bears as she finished 107th with an effort of 25:19.2. Sara Holman clocked a personal-best time of 25:33.6 and came in 110th. With a career-best run of 26:03.2, Sarah Grace Meek placed 115th.

The Bears return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 17, for the Little Rock Open.

From the Coach – Interim Head Coach Beau Theriot
"I thought we could have done better as a team. W just didn't pack run as we normally do and we were really spread out from the start. This course is super tough, super hilly and just a grinder of a course. Overall, the guys had decent times, we just didn't put it all together. Everything has been a bright spot this season for Max. He had a good training block over the summer break and this year he's done all the things he needs to do as far as nutrition and rest and recovery which led to his performance today. Going that fast on this course is a good showcase and I think when we go to Little Rock we'll definitely go sub-25 for him which will be big. Tate Whaley stood out and Jared Touart stood out. They both raced as best as they absolutely could on this course. I'm excited with the finish considering the teams that were here, but we definitely had more in the tank. We've got three girls at home that could have helped us out that just aren't ready to run yet. It would have been nicer to be up where we should have been in the top five here, but the ones that ran, ran really well today. I don't think unless you come out here and run it yourself you actually know, but some of these hills are like going up walls so for Casey to be that close to her PR is amazing. By the end of the season I think we're going to see some huge jumps in time. Kennedy Timmerman was a grinder out there today and really pushed it hard and Bekah ran really hard and excellent so I was just really proud of how those guys ran."

From the Student-Athletes – Sophomore Max Nores
"It was a good effort. It was a tough course. I didn't expect to go that fast. I was pretty confident because I had a pack of Kansas guys in front of me and I stuck with them. It was a good showing for the team."

From the Student-Athletes – Junior Casey Gore
"I honestly feel like I did pretty well, considering I've never really ran a course like this before, especially with the amount of hills. As a team, I think we did very well. We ran a lot better than we did at the UCA XC Challenge. We started out as a pack and we finished close to each other."
