TORRANCE, Calif./LAWRENCE, Kan. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's and women's track and field teams competed in the midwest and on the west coast over the weekend, and had success in both areas.
Senior Markus Schweikert led a group of eight runners at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays at El Camino College, setting a school record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 30:11.53. Freshman Gracie Hyde finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:35.38, the best time this season in the Southland Conference. Senior Julien Jeandree finished second in the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:57.47.
Junior Ajah Criner finished eighth in the 200 meters (24.27) while sophomore Charlotte Blair was 10th in the 1,500 meters (4:44.85) and junior Erin Woodward was 11th (4:45.30).
At the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan., freshman Hunter Henderson won the unseeded division of the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:58, while sophomore Logan Hall took second in the high jump (6-9) and senior Hannah Noble was fourth in the high jump (5-5). Freshman Casey Gore finished eighth in the unseeded 1,500 meters (4:51.95) while sophomore Jordan Brock was 12th in the unseeded 800 (2:21.46).
Junior Ryan Yarde finished fifth in the unseeded 800 meters (1:55.93) while senior Brock Collins was fourth in the unseeded 3,000 steeplechase (9:59.36). Junior Jaron Hamilton was third in the steeplechase (9:23.15) while freshman Timon Dresselhaus finished seventh in the 110 meter hurdles (14.92). Senior Victoria Campfield finished eighth in the 100 meter hurdles (1:03.44) while sophomore Aysha Anderson was eighth in the 100 meter hurdles (14.38). UCA's 4x400 squad was seventh in 3:59.00.
UCA competes next at the 2019 Southland Conference Outdoor championships on May 3-5 at Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La.
