NACOGDOCHES, Texas _ The University of Central Arkansas track and field teams recorded 28 Top 10 finishes and won three events at the Stephen F. Austin Skechers Carl Kight Invitational this weekend.
The men's squad won two events and had 11 Top 10 finishes, while the women's squad had one first and 17 Top 10s.
On the women's side, junior Rachel Durler from Dodge City, Kan., won the javelin on Friday with a throw of 131-1, the third-best mark in UCA history. For the men, freshman Marcel Keeton won the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.38, tying the third-best time in school history. Junior Takudzwa Muchichwa won his second consecutive high jump title with a height of 6-7.
In the women's 3,000 steeplechase, Taylor Dunn finished fourth (11:37.65) and Erin Woodward was fifth (12:03.78). In the 5,000 meters, Brigette Caruthers was fourth (17:39.53). UCA's team of Ajah Criner, E'Lexus Garvin, Jamaris Stephens and Logan Morton finished fourth in the 4x100 relay, while Morton, Aysha Anderson, Jade Mongo and Molly Sampson were sixtth in the 4x400 (4:10.29).
Lauren Daniel was fifth in the 100 meters (12:09) while  Shawanna Brockman followed Durler in the javelin, finishing third (36.38). Sara Calhoun was fourth in the pole vault (11-8), while Sophia Ramirez finished sixth in the triple jump (37-5).Â
Hadley Swanson finished fourth in the heptathlon with 4,734 points, the sixth-highest total in school history.
On the men's side, James Lassiter was third on in the 110 hurdles (14.67) and Marcus Johnson was fourth (55.37) and Keeton fifth (55.44) in the 400 hurdles. Zachary Jewell finished second in the 200 meters (21.14), tied for third-best in school history, and James Lassiter was fifth (21.54). Daniel Lawson was fifth (49.08) in the 400 meters.
Darius Herl finished fifth in the javelin (53.50 meters) and Zac Bitton was eighth (44.81).
UCA competes next at the Mt. Sac Relays on April 12-14 and then hosts the UCA Open on April 14-15 at UCA and Hendrix College.
