CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears return home to the friendly confines of Bear Stadium for a six-game home stand, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday when the Bears host the UTSA Roadrunners in Southland Conference play.
The Bears are 12-6 at Bear Stadium this season, but just 4-15 on the road. UCA is coming off a 4-2 loss at No. 20 Texas on Tuesday.
UCA has won all three of its home SLC series this season, going 8-1, with the lone loss in the opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on March 23. UCA swept three games each from Lamar and Nicholls State.
The Bears (16-21, 10-11) are tied for sixth place in the SLC standings with Northwestern State, which comes to Conway next weekend. UCA plays three of its last four conference series at home.
UCA is second in the conference in hitting at .282, while senior first baseman Bryan Willson is sixth overall at .345. Junior right fielder Forrestt Allday is 12th at .339. The Roadrunners (18-23, 7-14), who are currently in last place, counter with senior Casey Selsor, who is hitting .342.
Allday also leads the league in walks (47) and on-base percentage (.527). Junior left fielder Ethan Harris is tied for fifth in RBI (32), while sophomore center fielder Jonathan Davis is fifth in run scored (32), tied for sixth in stolen bases (15) and tied for fourth in walks (23).
UCA’s starting pitchers for the weekend are expected to be junior Jeffery Enloe on Friday, junior Caleb McClanahan on Saturday and senior Ryan Angus on Sunday. Game times are 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
