CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas (14-14, 4-5) fell to Austin Peay (14-14, 5-4) 8–4 on Sunday at Bear Stadium.
The Bears' lineup was highlighted by a home run and a triple, but the Governors' four home runs contributed to the victory.
Austin Peay took an early lead in the first inning with a two-run homer by Velazquez, which brought in Conley, after his lead off double. The Bears were unable to respond in the bottom of the inning, leaving the score at 2–0 in favor of the Governors.
In the second inning, Austin Peay extended its lead with a solo home run by Pangborn. The Bears answered back with a two-run homer from
Jack Runsick, scoring
Jagger Schattle, who had previously walked. The inning concluded with Austin Peay leading 3–2.
Austin Peay added another run in the fifth inning with Velazquez hitting his second homer of the game, increasing their lead to 4–2. Central Arkansas was unable to respond in their half of the inning.
In the sixth inning, Austin Peay capitalized on a throwing error to score two more runs, bringing the score to 6–2. Central Arkansas left two runners on base without scoring.
The seventh inning saw both teams scoring two runs each. For Austin Peay, Johnson hit a two-run homer. Central Arkansas responded with
Zane Denton scoring on a bases-loaded walk and
Parker Gwyn scoring on
Zeb Allen's sacrifice fly, making the score 8–4.
Austin Peay maintained its lead through the final innings, keeping Central Arkansas scoreless in the eighth and ninth. The game concluded with a final score of Austin Peay 8, Central Arkansas 4.
