RALEIGH, N.C. – The Central Arkansas track and field teams kicked off the outdoor season with the first day of competition at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina and the Alumni Bulldog Relays in Mississippi on Thursday.
In the men's 1500-meter run at the Raleigh Relays,
Jack Dingman broke the school record by nearly half a second. Dingman's 3:46.25 earned a 55
th place finish out of over 224 competitors.
Ky Bickford crossed the finish line in 3:51.43,
Trae Baker was just behind, coming in at 3:53.72 and
Logan Dingman ran a 3:54.77.
In the men's 5000-meter run,
Mason Bickle finished with a time of 15:11.87.
At the Alumni Bulldog Relays, the day was all about the hammer throw, with the only two events of the day being the men's and women's hammer.
On the women's side,
Joia Perry led the way for the Bears. Perry's toss of 58.31 meters (191-04) earned a 3
rd place finish for the senior.
Joy Nance used a mark of 51.89 meters (170-03) to claim 6
th place, while
Serena Degollado finished 16
thwith a 46.52-meter (152-07) throw.
In the men's hammer,
Jaden Schneeberger earned a 2
nd place finish in his first outdoor event of the season. His throw of 62.78 meters (206-00) was just 1.77 meters away from the leader.
Treavor Green earned a 5
th place finish with a mark of 59.39 meters (194-10), and
Devyn Steingisser finished 6
th with a 57.58-meter (188-11) toss.
The Raleigh Relays will resume tomorrow with track events starting at 9:45 a.m. The first Bear to compete tomorrow will be
Abby Machesky in the women's 1500-meter at 2:30 p.m. The session will be broadcast on
