LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Central Arkansas track and field teams swept the 2026 ASUN Indoor Championships on Saturday, completing the teams' second title run in a row in dominant fashion as the men's team won by 83 points and the women won by 36. The Bears finished the Championships with 27 medals, including 11 gold medals.
"Winning a championship isn't about being perfect – it's about responding when you're challenged," said Central Arkansas head coach,
Josey Weaver. "At the beginning of the year, we told our team that the ASUN didn't belong to us. If we wanted it, we had to go earn it. That's exactly what they did."
Weaver was unanimously honored with his second men's and women's ASUN Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year award in as many years for his efforts at the helm of both Bears track and field squads.
"That honor [Coach of the Year] simply means my team has my back," Weaver said of the award. "That's a team award. It doesn't happen without our assistant coaches, our athletic trainers, and every single athlete on our team."
Brenae Allen had a day, earning Women's ASUN Indoor Championships Most Valuable Performer on top of gold medal finishes in the women's 60-meter dash (7.36) and 200-meter dash (23.68) events.
Brenae Allen's performance across three events totaled 24 team points for the women's team.
Jaden Schneeberger continued his conquest in the throwing events, taking the gold in the shot put competition with a mark of 18.31 meters (60-01). Schneeberger's throw was almost six feet farther than the next closest competitor, and broke his own school record set at last year's ASUN Indoor Championships.
Maverick Walker also continued to best competitors in jumps, winning the triple jump event with a 14.71-meter (48-03.25) leap.
Nathan Uptagrafft brought home the gold in the men's heptathlon, tallying 5190 total points across all the events.
In the men's 400-meter,
Keaton Hansard earned the gold medal finish by nearly a full second. Hansard's time of 47.00 also set a new school record on top of the gold.
The Bears swept the podium in the women's 60-meter dash as
Brenae Allen took gold (7.36),
Troynelle Miller earned a silver (7.40) and
Danyelle Poole claimed the bronze (7.54).
Central Arkansas had numerous other podium finishes including
Gabriel Torres' school record-breaking silver in the 60-meter dash (6.70) and Clifton McBride's silver in the 200-meter dash (21.53) on the men's side. On the women's side,
Zoe Williams earned a silver in the 60-meter hurdles (8.49),
Danyelle Poole claimed bronze in the 200-meter dash (23.76), and
Jane Musengwa brought home bronze in the shot put (14.14m, 46-04.75).
"I'm incredibly proud of the individual accomplishments that paved the way for these team titles, but what makes this special is how connected and resilient this group is," Weaver said of his team. "It was not a perfect day for us, but it was a weekend full of giving our all. Most of all, I'm proud of how we handled the pressure, we embraced it. We didn't run from expectations – we rose to them."
