CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team was awarded for its dominant 7-0 win over Arkansas Pine-Bluff last week, with senior defender
Rylee Ellis being named the ASUN Defender of the Week.
Ellis earns the first weekly award of the season for the Bears after logging a goal and helping lead the shutout over the Golden Lions. Although her goal was the third of the day and first of the second half, Ellis's goal helped ice the match, extending the lead and establishing the momentum of the second half.
The senior's defensive efforts were also noteworthy; UAPB was held without a single shot, with the Golden Lions struggling to break midfield with Ellis leading the charge on the back line. It marked the first time since 2018 that the Bears have held an opponent to zero shots.
Ellis and the Bears are at home this week, facing off with Missouri State at the Bill Stephens Track & Soccer Complex on Thursday. Kickoff against the other Bears is set for 6 p.m.
