CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team is back at home after a trip to Hawaii. The Bears are set to take on Arkansas State at the Bill Stephens Trac and Soccer Complex, kicking off at 7 p.m.
The Bears (2-2) returned home after defeating Sacramento State 1-0 to close the trip to the Islands.
Trace Pavatt tallied the lone score in the win, giving the Bears the lead early in the second half. Pavatt now is tied for team-lead with two goals this year.
Hanna Hargrave played in goal against the Hornets, making eight saves and picking up her first shutout in Purple and Gray.
Last time the Bears and Red Wolves faced off was two years ago, after weather forced last season's match to close early. In 2023, the teams battled to a 2-2 draw in Conway, with all four goals scored in the first 33 minutes of the match.
Megan Moudy and Pavatt were the key offensive players in that one, combining for a goal and three assists in the draw.
The Red Wolves (1-1-2) have scored in all four games this season, most recently dropping a 2-3 decision at Oklahoma State. After giving up three goals to start the match, Arkansas State fought back with two goals late, scoring in the 83
rd and 84
th to cut the lead to one. Kennedy Horn and Leigha Dobbins tallied scores in the loss. Horn leads the team with three scores this season, while Dobbins notched her first of the season.
Arkansas State has played two keepers this season, with Damaris Deschaine and Taylor Sweat splitting time between the posts. Deschaine leads the team with 245 minutes of playing time, while Sweat has played in three matches this year.
