Women's Soccer Drops Road Match at Missouri State

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team could not keep the momentum from Thursday night going, dropping a 3-0 road match at Missouri State.

The Bears (1-3-1) struggled to find enough looks offensively to keep up with Missouri State, putting up only five shots, compared to the home team's 16. Jama Akpanudo had a good look early in the match, getting a ball deep in enemy territory, but flipped the shot wide right to leave the game scoreless.

Missouri State scored its first goal in the 14th minute, and despite a near-counter from the Bears, added a second goal in the 24th. Central Arkansas continued to look for opportunities to cut into the lead, but the chances for hots were few and far between. Sakiko Manabe had a look at goal in the 30th, but the Bear keeper was on top of it, keeping the score 2-0 until the break.

As the second half started, Central Arkansas continued to push forward in search of a goal. Kaylee Vorisek let loose on a shot in the 57th, but once more, it was saved to keep Central Arkansas without a goal. Missouri State scored one last time in the  67th, and that put the game essentially out of reach.

Central Arkansas is back on the pitch next Sunday, hosting UT Martin at 7 p.m. at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.
