CONWAY, Ark. – Men's soccer head coach
Kyle Segebart has announced his new coaching staff, adding three new assistants for the upcoming season. The staff marks the first staff constructed at Central Arkansas by the first-year head coach.
Joe LaCasto joins the program after three years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at UNC Asheville. The Huntington Beach, California native helped guide the program to back-to-back Big South postseason appearances for the first time in the program's Division I history, as well as a program-record 10 wins in 2023. That season also saw the Bulldogs earn seven All-Big South selections and make its first Big South Conference Championship appearance. He also spent time as an assistant at Mars Hill University, earning a master's degree while helping guide the program from the bottom of the South Atlantic Conference to an appearance in the SAC Championship final in 2021. As a player, he was a solid midfielder at UNC Asheville, earning Big South All-Academic honors twice and captaining his team for three years.
"I am incredibly excited to join the Central Arkansas men's soccer staff and be a part of the Bears' program," LaCasto said. "This program has a strong history of competing for championships, and I'm eager for the challenge of continuing that tradition. I'm thankful to Coach Segebart for the opportunity and can't wait to get started!"
Will Montgomery brings a ton of soccer experience to the team, and is familiar with the Central Arkansas scene after serving as a volunteer coach last season. Before that, he's coached with the Little Rock Rangers in various capacities since 2016. Montgomery also brings experience as a player, having captained his squad at Little Rock from 1989-93. He also put together a solid semi-professional career, playing five seasons in the SISL/USISL. Outside of soccer, Montgomery is extremely active in the community, and has held many community leadership roles over the course of his adult life, impacting the Central Arkansas community for decades.
"Being part of the UCA men's soccer staff means playing a vital role in developing players both on and off the field, and requires a commitment to building a positive team culture. As a coach, I'm not only focused on strategy, but also helping our players grow in confidence, character, and becoming productive men," Montgomery said. "There's excitement with the players returning, combined with the new talent coming in. I'm excited to be a part of developing this team and helping our players reach their full potential. ASUN, we are coming!"
Eitan Waisfeld joins the Bears out of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. A goalkeeper coach by trade, he's spent the last year at Simon Fraser University, helping coach keepers while also being in charge of video analysis and recruiting. He was also in charge of camps and academy training, meaning Waisfeld has a knack for identifying and developing talent. He joins a team that returns starting keeper
Javier Ramirez, who posted a 1.32 goals against average, making 81 saves at a 77 percent clip.
"I'm incredibly excited to join the staff here at the University of Central Arkansas. It's an honor to become part of a Bears team with a proud history of competing for championships," Waisfeld said. "A huge thank you to Coach Segebart for the opportunity – I'm looking forward to the challenge and can't wait to get started!"
