CONWAY, Ark. – After a season of ups and downs that saw the Central Arkansas men's soccer team play one of the toughest schedules in the nation, the Atlantic Sun Conference has released its Academic All-ASUN Team. Three Bears were named to the list, highlighting their academic achievements while balancing their on-field endeavors.
 
Three seniors were honored by the conference with this award, in Matheo Francou, Javier Ramirez and Lucas Shearer. The three were key pieces in guiding the Bears to a four-win season in head coach Kyle Segebart's first season at the helm, with all four wins coming in a perfect home record.
 
Francou, a graduate student from France, has been completing post-baccalaureate work in business administration, and has been stellar in the classroom, posting a 4.0 in his postgrad work. On the field, he made 12 starts for the Bears this season, logging 983 minutes for a team that finished second in the ASUN Gold Division. He had two assists this season, including one during ASUN play. His first assist of the season was on the game-winner against Eastern Illinois. He also helped a defense that logged two shutouts and held four other teams to a single goal.
 
Ramirez finishes a degree in chemistry this season, and holds a 3.59 GPA while earning one of the toughest degrees at the undergraduate level. Splitting time in goal, Ramirez made ten appearances this season, making 56 saves while earning a shutout against Missouri State. He finished his playing career in the top-10 in saves and goals against average in program history, racking up 166 saves while holding a 1.59 GAA.
 
Shearer will finish his degree in finance this year, and will do so holding an impressive 3.92 GPA. On the field, Lucas led the Bears and finished second in the ASUN with five assists. Four of those assists came during ASUN play, making him the league leader in assists during conference matches. He was a big part of Central Arkansas creating an offense that was tied for the most goals during conference matches.
