CONWAY, Ark. – After the academic awards came out earlier in the day, the ASUN Conference has released its postseason awards, of which the Central Arkansas men's soccer team claimed four spots across the postseason teams. The Bears received one First Team selection, two Second Team spots, and one honoree on the All-Freshman list.
One of the best all-around attackers since day one in the ASUN,
Devonte Richards put together another All-ASUN season, earning a First Team selection for his final campaign. Richards led the Bears and ranked third in the ASUN with five goals this season. He was also one of two players in the league to have three game-winners, and two of those came during ASUN matches. He headlined an offense that was tied for the best scoring offense during conference games, and his three ASUN goals were tied for first place in the conference. He was the only player in the entire conference to log multiple game-winners during conference play.
The two Second Team Bears were defender
Elijah Bishop and forward
Maxim Sheenkov. Bishop, who made 13 appearances and played 1,016 minutes, was the center back for a defense that logged two shutouts and held four other opponents to just one goal during the season. The junior played most of the season missing several other starters on defense as the back line battled injuries all year, piecing together a defense at times. He scored one goal this season, scoring on a set piece against Bellarmine.
Sheenkov earned his spot on the league's Second Team after finishing the year second on the team with ten points, scoring four goals and adding two assists. His four goals came in a stretch of four matches for Central Arkansas, a turning point in the season that saw the Bears get points in three-straight ASUN matches. He led the ASUN in points during conference play, logging three goals and two assists for eight points. Sheenkov was atop the conference with his three scores, and his two assists were tied for third place.
Vaclav Kozeny made a name for himself in year one of his college career, becoming a key piece in the midfield for the Bears as a freshman. He scored two goals and added an assist this year, helping one of the best scoring offenses in the ASUN. His first collegiate score was the first goal of the season for the Bears, and he tallied another goal and one assist during ASUN play. He also helped out a defense that logged two shutouts and held four other opponents to just a single score, and went a perfect 4-0 at home.
