Tennis Set for Conference Clash with North Florida

CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas women's tennis team is set to host the University of North Florida in a crucial ASUN Conference matchup on Thursday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at the Conway Tennis Center. The Bears will look to secure their first-ever win against the Ospreys, who have had the upper hand in the series history.

Series History
UCA enters Thursday's match seeking to snap a three-match losing streak against North Florida. The two programs have met three times since April 10, 2022, with the Ospreys taking each contest. The most recent battle occurred on March 17, 2024, in Jacksonville, Fla., where the Bears fell in a tightly contested 4-3 match. Despite coming up short, UCA showed resilience, pushing UNF to the limit.

Season Stats - UCA
UCA comes into the match with an overall record of 8-9, holding a .471 winning percentage. In conference play, the Bears are 1-3 (.250), but they are coming off a strong win in their last outing. UCA has had a solid showing on the road with a 6-3 record, while they aim to improve their home record of 2-5. Their neutral-site record stands at 0-1.

On the road, however, they have struggled with a 1-5 record, while they have been solid at neutral sites with a 2-0 record.

Scouting North Florida
The Ospreys, a perennial ASUN powerhouse, have been a formidable opponent in conference play. With a history of success against UCA, they will aim to continue their dominance. However, with this matchup being their first trip to Conway, the Bears will have a chance to capitalize on home-court advantage.

Match Outlook
With both teams in the thick of ASUN play, this matchup carries significant implications for conference standings. UCA's competitive showing in the last meeting suggests that this could be the breakthrough moment for the Bears. A strong performance in singles and doubles play will be key in their pursuit of a statement victory.

First serve is set for 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, at the Conway Tennis Center. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Bears as they aim to make history against North Florida.
