Florence, Ala. – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team battled but fell short against North Alabama, dropping a 5-2 decision in ASUN Conference play on Friday.

The Sugar Bears started strong in doubles, securing the opening point with victories on courts one and three. The duo of Ting-An Chen and Nanami Fukushima dominated their match with a 6-1 win at No. 3, while Vichitraporn Vimuktananda and Konomi Miyakawa clinched the doubles point with a hard-fought 7-5 victory at No. 1.

However, North Alabama took control in singles play, winning five of six matches to seal the team victory. Seohyun Park provided UCA's lone singles win, battling through a third-set tiebreaker to defeat Senem Ocal 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 6. The Lions claimed straight-set victories in the top five singles positions, with Stanislava Bobrovnikova setting the tone at No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Vimuktananda.

With the loss, UCA falls to 7-9 overall and 0-3 in ASUN play, while North Alabama improves to 12-2 and remains undefeated in conference action at 4-0. The Sugar Bears will look to bounce back in their next match as they face Lipscomb in Nashville, Tennessee at 12 p.m.
