CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas tennis team is set to kick off ASUN Conference play with a pair of home matches at the UCA Tennis Courts. The Bears will take on Stetson on Thursday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a matchup against Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, March 16, at 10:00 a.m.
UCA (7-6) enters conference play looking to turn the tide after a competitive non-conference schedule. The Bears will aim to break through against two ASUN opponents who have historically had the upper hand in previous matchups.
Scouting Stetson
The Hatters (9-3) hold a 3-0 all-time record against UCA, including a 7-0 sweep in last season's meeting on April 12, 2024. Stetson has been a consistent force in the ASUN, taking the previous three matchups without dropping a match at home. The Bears' closest contest against the Hatters came in their first-ever meeting in 2022, when they fell 4-3. This time, UCA will look to leverage its home-court advantage to secure its first win in the series.
Scouting Florida Gulf Coast
The Eagles (7-6) have also held the upper hand in the series, owning a 3-0 record against UCA since their first meeting in 2022. FGCU won the last two matchups by identical 7-0 scores, including last season's meeting in Fort Myers on April 14, 2024. The Bears came closest to victory in 2022, narrowly losing 4-3 at home. With this year's matchup back in Conway, UCA will look to rewrite history and secure its first-ever win over the Eagles.
