Women's Cross Country Earns National Academic Honor

CONWAY, Ark. – After a successful year in the classroom, the Central Arkansas women's cross country team was announced as having the tenth-highest team GPA in Division I, according the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
 
With three of the 11 runners' GPAs at a 4.0 and six above 3.80, the Bears were one of ten programs in the nation to hold a 3.80 or higher as a team, and held the highest team GPA in both the ASUN conference and the state of Arkansas. Over
 
"It was no surprise to me that our women received such a high GPA ranking along with having a great cross country season," Head coach Josey Weaver said. "We talk about the importance of the classroom and these ladies set an example for all to follow."
 
It marks the third-straight season that the women's cross country team has posted a 3.7 or better, every season under coach Weaver, posting a top-25 mark in the nation.
