DELAND, Fla. – The University of Central Arkansas tennis team went down to the Sunshine State and sot beat out by the No. 1 team in the Conference in the Stetson Hatters. The Bears' record fell to 11-12 overall and their ASUN record dropped to 2-5.
The Bears' run in doubles play came to an abrupt halt, as the Hatters chose to play no games. Stetson took down UCA's No. 3 pair in Seohyun Park and Konomi Miyakawa to the tune of a 6-2 win, then Vichitraporn Vimuktananda and Sumomo Hamanaga fell in a close one, 7-5. After taking a 1-0 lead, the Hatters did not look over their shoulder, dominating the singles affair. Hamanaga, who always seems to find herself in the thick of things late in matches, took the first set 6-3, but lost the latter two sets. The Bears have dropped matches to Stetson in three straight seasons dating back to the spring of 2022.
UCA will be back in action on Sunday, April 14th against Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Florida at 9:00 a.m. to wrap the regular season in 2024. To keep up with UCA tennis all season long, follow @UCATennis on Twitter/X.
