OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Central Arkansas tennis program went on the road and dropped a tough decision to the Creighton Blue Jays on Friday afternoon. The loss dropped UCA to 3-3 on the season as they close the road trip tomorrow ahead of next weekend's home opener.
While UCA fought hard, the Bears ultimately could not come out on top on Friday. Creighton jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in doubles play securing two early wins while the pair of Vichitraporn Vimuktananda and Nanoka Kazama were on the way to victory.
Vimuktananda improved her singles record to 4-1 on the young season, defeating Malvika Shulka in the Blue Jays' No. 1 singles spot. Freshman Harune Shigemasu earned her second singles victory of the week, this time defeating Allison Wilcox in the No. 6 spot. Kazama fell behind after losing the first set 6-0 and battled back to take the second set 6-0 before ultimately falling in the third set. UCA falls to 1-1 all-time against the Blue Jays and now get to turn its focus to taking on the Omaha Mavericks on Saturday.
