OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Central Arkansas tennis program nabbed a great win on the road against the Omaha Mavericks. The win lifts UCA to 4-3 on the year before the Bears return home next weekend.
The Bears got things started by earning a crucial doubles points courtesy of the efforts of the pairings of Konomi Miyakawa and Harune Shigemasu as well as Seohyun Park and Sumomo Hamanaga.
In singles play, freshman Harune Shigemasu earned her third singles win this week, stepping up for the Bears in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots this week. Vimuktananda picked up a second win in a row this week after not playing in the road mid-week match against Arkansas Tech. UCA has had several different players step up this season so far, this time it was sophomore Ting-An Chen who sealed the victory for the Bears, winning in three sets after dominating the tie break set 6-1. UCA now improves its record against the Mavericks to 3-0 all-time, this matchup being the first since 2020 however.
UCA is all set to come home next weekend against North Texas and Southeast Missouri at the UCA Tennis Courts.
