BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Central Arkansas tennis program continued its fall slate at Samford University last weekend over three days against Samford, Troy, and Tulane.
UCA's Vichitraporn Vimuktananda and Sumomo Hamanaga started off the weekend with a double victory over Samford's Lopez and Mauro. In singles play, Konomi Miyakawa defeated Maria Guirguis of Troy in two sets.
Vimuktananda and Hamanaga started off Saturday with another doubles victory over Yelamanchili and Borland of Tulane, 6-3. In singles play, Ting-An Chen defeated Samantha Maras from Samford.
On Sunday, Vimuktananda and Hamanaga won their third doubles match of the weekend, this time beating Kukaras and Amin from Troy. Konmi Miyakawa and Harune Shigemasu also won their doubles matchup versus Metwally and Leslie of Troy. Hamanaga won her own match against Kristen Borland of Tulane. Miyakawa capped off the day with a win for the Bears, taking down Theis from Tulane.
The Bears will be back at home this weekend for the second UCA Fall Invitational at the Conway Tennis Center on Friday, September 29th and Saturday, September 30th.
