CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas tennis program is set to host its final regular season match of the year against ASUN foe Lipscomb.
UCA's loss to Austin Peay on Thursday dropped the Bears to 10-9 overall and a 3-4 record in the ASUN. The Bears got victories from two freshmen in Vichitraporn Vimuktananda and Konomi Miyakawa. Although the freshman got some confidence-boosting wins, UCA was unable to upend the Govs, and ultimately fell. UCA fell in doubles play as well, despite a great effort by Vimuktananda and Nanoka Kazama to take a doubles match from the Govs.
UCA now gets let to face the Lipscomb Bisons to close the regular season ahead of the ASUN tournament next weekend. The Bisons come in at 9-10 on the season and have a 4-3 conference record and own some impressive wins. The Bisons have taken down Liberty, Georgia State, Belmont, and Eastern Kentucky this season. The lone matchup in this series went to the Bears, a 7-0 win in the Music City. UCA, a young squad, will get a great opportunity against a quality team to get back to .500 in the ASUN.
UCA will face Lipscomb on Saturday, April 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the UCA Tennis Courts.
