CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas tennis program is set to welcome in the Austin Peay Governors into town for another ASUN matchup this week.
The Bears rebounded rather nicely this past weekend with a dominant win over Eastern Kentucky and a close win over Bellarmine thanks to sophomore Nicole Ross, who sealed the victory with a win. The win lifted UCA to 10-8 on the season and got the Bears back to .500 in the ASUN at 3-3. This weekend will be UCA's first home match since March 12th when the Bears faced the Jacksonville State Gamecocks.
The Govs strut into Conway at 13-5 on the year with a 4-2 ASUN record. APSU also does not have a shortage of quality wins on the season, boasting victories over Belmont, Western Kentucky, Southeast Missouri, Lipscomb, Stetson, and Queens. For the Govs, Sophia Baranov and Jana Leder are having great seasons, With Baranov at 15-2 and 5-1 in the ASUN, and Leder at 14-3 with a 4-2 record in ASUN play.
UCA and APSU have faced off a handful of times in the past, with the Govs holding a 3-2 lead in the series. However, UCA took a match over Austin Peay last year in Little Rock and took the first ever matchup between the two in Conway in 2018.
UCA will take on Austin Peay on Thursday, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the UCA Tennis Courts.
