CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas tennis program returns home for a twin-billing with in-state foe, Arkansas Tech, this weekend.
The Bears are coming off a 1-1 road trip to Springfield, Mo. which saw two tightly contested matches. UCA now sits at 3-4 and looks to climb over the .500 mark for the fist time this season. Junior Jaeun Lee is on fire at the moment, having won five singles matches in a row, dating back to January 28th against Belmont. Konomi Miyakawa and Vichitraporn Vimuktananda secured two victories as a pairing last weekend against UMKC and Missouri State.
Arkansas Tech comes into Conway at 2-0 on the season with convincing wins over Harding and Ouachita. UCA and Arkansas Tech have faced off three times prior to this weekend, with the Bears winning all three. UCA is 2-0 all-time against the Golden Suns in Conway, which bodes well for the Bears' quest for momentum coming off a loss to Missouri State. While UCA has a nice record over the Golden Suns, the last matchup came in April of 2006, so this generation of UCA athletes will get their shot at Arkansas State.
UCA takes on Arkansas Tech on Saturday, February 18th with the first match at 12:00 p.m. and the second match at 2:30 p.m.
