Deon Travis Named ASUN All-Academic

ATLANTA, Ga. – After a successful season balancing the rigors of a graduate program with one of the toughest soccer schedules in Division I, men's soccer's Deon Travis has been named to the ASUN All-Academic Team, the league announced on Friday.

"Deon has been impressive since arriving on campus. The hard work he puts in every day on the field and in the classroom is something the other guys should aspire to," Head coach Frank Kohlenstein said of Travis.

Joining the team as a graduate transfer this season, Travis has been excelling in his MBA program, holding a 4.0 GPA. In addition to his dedication to the classroom, the Madison, Miss., native has also made an immediate contribution on the field. This season, he has logged 1,150 minutes on the backline, and has become one of the most important pieces at his position. His experience has helped the Bears quickly counterattack after stopping opponents, resulting in not only a goal and an assist for himself, but Travis has been a key piece in helping the Bears become the ASUN's second-best offense this season.

Travis extends a streak of ASUN All-Academic awards for the Bears: the team has had at least one player earn the nod in all three seasons since joining the league. Central Arkansas continues its season on Saturday, facing Queens in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Championship. Kickoff against the Royals is set for 6 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn.
