Kelly Van Gundy Wins Second ASUN Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. - Another fantastic week for the Central Arkansas women's soccer team has yielded another weekly award, this one for junior midfielder Kelly Van Gundy. Her ASUN Player of the Week nod is the second of the season for the Bears' leading scorer.

Van Gundy's efforts were key in the win over North Florida: she scored both goals in the 2-1 win, punctuating each half with a score. Her first-half goal was in the 44th minute, and her game-winner was with 95 seconds left, officially. Her second goal of the evening marked her fourth game-winning score of the season, and brought her to seven goals on the year.

After last week's brace, the Flower Mound, Texas native moved to second in the ASUN in goals, assists, and total points, while leading the league in game winning goals. With just a single game left on the schedule, Van Gundy has compiled five goals, four assists and 14 total points, with four game-winners to her name. For the season, she nears the 20-point mark, and would be the first Bear to reach the milestone since 2021.

Van Gundy and the Bears need just a single point on Saturday to lock up the ASUN's No. 2 seed in the ASUN Championship later this month. Florida Gulf Coast has been the Bears' main challenger for the top spot, but Central Arkansas defeated the reigning champs earlier in the season, holding the tie-breaker over the Eagles. Saturday's regular season finale is against North Alabama, set for a 1 p.m. kickoff at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.
