ATLANTA, Ga. – The ASUN Conference unveiled its weekly award list for men's soccer this afternoon, and senior defender
Bradyn Knutson was named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced.
The honor comes after a second-straight shutout by the Bears, as Central Arkansas races out to a 2-0 record in league play. In the 1-0 win over Bellarmine, Knutson and the Bears limited the Knights to just three shots on goal, the third-straight game an opponent has had under five real scoring chances.
It marks the first such honor for Knutson, who has been a mainstay on the backline since arriving in 2020. The Spring, Texas native also becomes the third Bear to win a defensive weekly award in the ASUN era, after
Alberto Suarez and
Zach Schawl. Knutson's award also clocks in as the first of the season for the Bears.
Central Arkansas heads to Memphis Tuesday evening, playing a nonconference midweek against the Tigers. Winners of the last two contests, kickoff against Memphis is set for 6 p.m.
