From the Coach – Head Coach Josey Weaver
"We are excited to come away with the two individual titles today. I thought we ran really well up front. I could definitely tell that we are working right now, in terms of what we have done at practice didn't really taper for this and we won't taper for it for a while. I have always told the team that our season starts in October. That is championship season for us in the ASUN conference and then Regionals in November, so that's our main focus. I think we saw some things that we have to work on today and improve and also, we saw some highlights and things that seem positive that we can really build on. I think we are in an okay spot to start the season off, but never are we satisfied after one meet whether it goes exactly the way we want it to or different. I'm glad our women were able to hold off Little Rock. I know our men fell just a little bit short today, but the good thing is that we get to line up in 10 days and go after them again and see where we finish on our home course. We will build toward that and see what happens in the future."

From the First Place Finisher – Sara Steimel
"I think it went really well. We planned on wanting to beat UALR from the get-go. We weren't too worried about A State. We wanted to beat UALR, that was the main goal, and we did that. I think we worked really well as a team and we are really excited to have Coach Weaver with us this year."
Â
From the First Place Finisher – Philipp Haessner
"It was the first race in the season. We had a really hard workout on Tuesday so I expected to race smart from the beginning. I raced with two other guys in the first two laps and then I made a move. I waited for the last chance and I move up. It was a really good feeling during the race and then with my individual win. I am really excited for the next races, especially Conference and Regionals. My focus is to place in the top 3 at conference and maybe get an individual qualifier for Nationals. Those are my two biggest goals for the cross country season."
