CONWAY, Ark. - Central Arkansas tennis returns home after a doubleheader sweep as they battle the University of Louisana-Monroe Saturday afternoon.
The Bears will hope to carry over a successful outing last weekend to tomorrow's match, as they face off against the Warhawks at 2 p.m. in the UCA Tennis Courts.
Heading into tomorrow's matchup, UCA will have a mixture of people that they lean on to get them in the win column. This year, the Bears have made a living, changing positions and allowing each member to field a different place on the squad. That will be no different tomorrow as there is no telling how the lineup will set up for this pivotal non-conference matchup. Regardless, it is certain that the Bears will need each singles victory, as they have claimed the last six doubles decisions and won four of those six matches. It is obvious to see that doubles play is their bread and butter, so it will be crucial to battle hard for every point after that.
However, some have been a staple in the Bears lineup with all these decisions yet to be made. The No. 1 & No. 2 spot continues to be run by juniors Chunxi Xin and Fuka Nonoyama. These two are crucial for the result as Xin is 2-6, and Nonoyama is 5-3 on the season. The next line of defense will be senior Yada Vasupongchai, who is 3-4 on the season. These three players will be crucial to any result, as every match has been close thus far in the season, and they can swing the score. This will be pivotal as ULM is on a slow start with a 2-5 record and is currently riding a three-match skid. Overall it should be a solid matchup as these Bears battle the Warhawks for supremacy.
