TENNIS OPENS UP SPRING SCHEDULE WITH MEMPHIS

CONWAY, Ark. - The opportunity is there as the Central Arkansas tennis program is ready to make waves in their inaugural ASUN season.

While all eyes are prepared for the conference season, the non-conference portion will test the Bears as they battle the Memphis Tigers tomorrow afternoon to start the spring campaign.

UCA will send some of their best as they hope to start the season off in style. All of the starters for the Bears return this season, so the experience gained will be a primary key for success. Leading the team will be senior Yada Vasupongchai, junior Chunxi Xin, and junior Fuka Nonoyama. All three of these players earned high honors in the Southland Conference and have high expectations for this new opportunity. Vasupongchai led all singles competitors with a perfect 9-0 SLC record and a 26-7 overall record. The team of Xin and Nonoyama were the main culprits in the double's success as they also went 9-0 but from the doubles side of things.

With so many chances to succeed, it is all about gaining momentum for the conference slate. That all starts in Memphis as they hope to tame the Tigers on the road. Memphis is 2-0 on the season with two straight victories over another ASUN competitor in North Alabama. They claimed a 7-0 victory in both of those matches, which means they are not a team to take lightly.

This faceoff between an AAC and ASUN clash will begin with the first serve starting at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.
