CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Central Arkansas (8-7, SLC 4-1) added a late addition to their schedule as they travel to face the University of South Florida (5-9) on the road tomorrow.
With a week and a half between their last and next conference match, the Bears made use of that time by adding another premier team to the schedule.
UCA enters into this weekday matchup with a multitude of successes from their previous two conference foes. Headling the long list of victories was junior
Yada Vasupongchai, as she completed a sweep against all of her competition. She scored a few lopsided victories in those four matches as she outscored her opponents 36 sets to seven. Another player that held stride in these two matchups was freshman
Sumomo Hamanaga. Hamanaga only participated in the singles portion but dominated as she won hers with a combined 24-4 set difference.
The Bulls have a different story in their last couple of matches as they recently entered a four-match skid. However, it is not all negative from their side as they are 5-9 on the season, with three losses from SEC programs, including No. 22 ranked University of Florida. To go along with that, USF has four losses to teams ranked in the top 35, including the previously mentioned Florida Gators. The Bulls are led by their No. 1 junior Laura Pellicer. Pellicer has had a rough go of things recently but has also been facing top-ranked talent throughout the nation. Pellicer should make for a great matchup against UCA's No. 1
Chunxi Xin. Xin has recently suffered a few close defeats but has still turned heads as she continues to impress against her own spread of quality opponents.
The matchup between these two squads occurs at 1 p.m. tomorrow at USF's courts in Tampa, Florida.
