CONWAY, Ark. - Central Arkansas tennis hopes to continue success as they welcome back competition for the UCA 2nd Fall Invitational.  

The Bears start their invitational tomorrow as a delayed start leaves seven teams for the Sunday and Monday tournament that the Conway Tennis Center will host on the first day and the UCA Tennis Courts on the second day. 

It will be an almost entirely different tournament than the UCA 1st Fall Invitational as the lone participant returning to the Invite is Arkansas State. The rest of the squads will be new this year but will be familiar as Missouri State and Louisana Tech participated in last year's Fall Invitationals and faced off in duals. While Northwestern St., Southeast Missouri St., and Austin Peay took on UCA in duals matches. ASU will also be a returning opponent from last year as the Bears took them on in duals play. UCA went 4-2 against these squads as a team, with their losses coming from Louisiana Tech 5-2 and APU 4-3. In the other matches, they bested ASU 4-1, MSU 4-0, SEMO 4-3, and Northwestern St 5-2. Leading the charge in all six of those matches was senior Yada Vasupongchai, as she interchanged positions in each contest but still ended up with a 5-1 record versus these foes. 

However, the Invite will be rather unconventional, as the weather has put a damper on the scheduling and format. For that reason, the matchups will be decided based on skill level and the number of teams participating on the second day of the tournament is unknown. All of these teams will participate in the play on Sunday, but it will be a late decision on whether some teams participate on the second day. Regardless, the time frame of the match remains the same as the UCA 2nd Fall Invitational will start at 9:30 a.m. on both days, with teams starting to warm up at 8:30 a.m.
