CONWAY, Ark - While the spring season continues to trudge on, the University of Central Arkansas continues to find improvements as they continue their dual stretch. 

For the first time this spring season, the Bears will only have one adversary during the weekend trip as they head to Birmingham, Ala., to face Samford University. 

As the spring schedule continues to pick up the pace, so do the Bears as they played in their two best duals of the season against Belmont and Austin Peay University. UCA surrender no points against the Bruins while falling just short against the Governors in a tough match. Headlining last week's performance was the play of junior Yada Vasupongchai. Vasupongchai claimed Southland Conference Player of the Week honors as she went a perfect 4-0 against these formidable foes. 

The Bears hope to continue that success against a veteran Samford squad. For the Bulldogs, their hope is for a bounce back dual, as they lost their first match against Auburn University 7-0. Samford is led by junior Rousanne Janse Van Rensburg, as she hopes to get back after it after being ruled ineligible last season. Rensburg had to sit out a year after she transferred from Tulsa University to the Bulldogs. Before coming to Samford, Rensburg was 4-5 in singles play, and 14-5 in doubles play for the Golden Hurricanes. 

Once both of these teams hit the court on Saturday, it will be a completely different feeling, as this is the first time these teams have faced each other. Alongside the fact that both teams will be searching for a rebound victory, it should make for an exciting competition. The match will officially start at noon on Saturday at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion in Birmingham, Ala.
