Jewell, Criner Breaks School Records in 200m on Day One

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Central Arkansas men's and women's track & field teams competed in day one of the Meyo Invitational and MSSU Lion Open on Friday. Zachary Jewell led the men's team with a UCA record in the 200m prelims, while Ajah Criner led the women with a new school record in the 200m.

Criner broke her own school record in the 200m with a run of 24.14 and collected the second-best run of the prelims.
 
Jewell recorded the second-best time in the 200m prelims with a career-best run of 21.35 and set the UCA record in the process. Johnson Adegbite tied for the 16th-fastest mark in prelims with a personal-best time of 22.00.
 
Jewell recorded the second-fastest time in the 60m prelims with a mark of 6.76. Adegbite produced a career-best run of 6.98 and had the 24th-best mark. With an effort of 7.25, Logan Murry was 42nd in prelims.
 
Criner recorded a time of 7.57 and was the sixth fastest in the 60m prelims. Sierra Temple finished close behind in time with a personal-best effort of 7.58 for the seventh best.
 
With a run of 8.25, Jordan Atkins clocked the 12th-fastest time in the 60m hurdle prelims.
 
Ayana Harris posted the 25th-best time in the 60m hurdle prelims with an effort of 8.91. La Laylah Pleasant finished in 28th with a career-best mark of 8.96.
 
Taylor Conway placed 27th in the long jump with a leap of 5.30m (17-4.75).
 
Max Nores clocked the best time of his career with a 15:18.29 and finished 32nd in the 5,000m.
 
The men's 60m hurdle semifinals begin competition at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.
 
MSSU Lion Open
 
Lindsey Hover finished the pole vault with a fourth-place height of 3.15m (10-4.00).
 
In the men's pole vault, Zac Bitton led the way with a mark of 3.69m (12-1.25) and finished in ninth. Timon Dresselhaus tied for 10th with Luke Anthony with a vault of 3.49m (11-5.25). Anthony recorded a personal best.
 
Jennifer Peake notched a leap of 4.88m (16-0.25) and finished in 11th in the long jump. She added a ninth-place time of 9.95 in the 60m hurdles.
 
Dresselhaus clocked a time of 8.64 in the 60m hurdles and finished in fifth. Anthony finished in 15th with a career-best effort of 9.33.
 
Bitton led the men in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.55m (21-6.00) and placed eighth. With a distance of 5.84m (19-2.00), Anthony finished 25th. Dresselhaus produced a 27th-place jump of 5.71m (18-9.00).
 
Malik Beasley posted a personal-best toss of 14.71m (48-3.25) and placed 16th in the weight throw. Aidan Patton notched a throw of 14.28m (46-10.25) and came in 23rd.
 
The men's shot put will be the first event of the day Saturday with a 10 a.m. start time.
