CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas tennis team will look to grab their first road win of 2020 tomorrow morning as they will face the Arkansas State Red Wolves (0-2) at the RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The Bears (1-4) will look to replicate last year's performance against the Red Wolves as they cruised to a 6-1 win and improved their career head-to-head mark to 5-4.
MEET THE ARKANSAS STATE RED WOLVES
The Arkansas State Red Wolves reside in Jonesboro, Arkansas and will look for their first win of 2020 tomorrow after dropping matches to Samford and UAB in late January. The team is led by a mature-heavy group of four seniors and two juniors, sophomores and freshmen.
Junior Pornpawe Pramethong will be the name to watch for Arkansas State as she holds the best singles mark for the Red Wolves at 9-6 and will likely face sophomore
Chunxi Xin at the No. 1 court. After Pramethong, only senior Shannon O'Brien and junior Amelia Guevremont hold +.500 records as they are both 7-6 entering tomorrow's match.
The Bears got an early look at the Red Wolves last Fall as Central Arkansas finished 3-1 in both singles and doubles head-to-head matchups over the course of the two Fall tournaments at UCA.
HEAD COACH CASEY WHARTON ON TOMORROW'S MATCH
"It's been great to have two weeks off to rest, recover and practice some things. I'm excited to play tomorrow. It is just one match, but it's an important one. Arkansas State is getting better every year and we're playing them in Jonesboro."
"I feel that we need to get there tonight and practice on their court to give ourselves the best chance to be ready.
I think we're as healthy as we can be."
