CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas tennis team will look to build on its two-game winning streak tomorrow as they will face the University of Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks (6-1) and the Missouri State Bears (2-4) in a doubleheader slate at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri.
The Bears (4-5) will take part in their fourth doubleheader on the year and play against Missouri State at 7 p.m. for their latest start time all year.
MEET THE NEBRASKA AT OMAHA MAVERICKS
The University of Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks reside in Omaha, Nebraska and are enjoying their best start in Division I program history at 6-1. The Mavericks will enter the 12 p.m. match against the Bears riding a five-game winning streak, including wins over Saint Louis, Kansas City and Northern Illinois.
Omaha will carry over impressive combined season totals as they are 28-14 in singles play and 12-6 in doubles through seven matches. Junior Natalie Lorentz highlights the junior-heavy roster as she was named Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the second straight week on February 11. Lorentz earned the award after finishing 4-0 against Saint Louis and Northern Illinois. All but one player has a +.500 record in singles play while three ladies boast undefeated marks, including junior Savanna Crowell's 6-0 start.
Look for an entertaining doubles matchup at the No. 1 between the 4-2 pairing of sophomore Ines Absisan and junior Madison Gallegos and Central Arkansas' 6-2 duo of sophomores
Chunxi Xin and
Fuka Nonoyama.
The Bears hold the all-time record over the Mavericks at 1-0.
MEET THE MISSOURI STATE BEARS
The Missouri State Bears reside in Springfield, Missouri and will look to turn things around after dropping four of their last five matches, including 4-0 losses to Missouri and Arkansas. The Bears were picked to finish fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference and were one of three teams to receive a first-place vote.
Missouri State will hope for better results at the No. 1 and 2 against Central Arkansas as they are 1-4 at both courts to start the year. The Bears' top players in sophomore Anna Alons and lone senior Alye Darter are struggling out of the gate with identical five-game losing streaks and a combined record of 7-22 dating back to last Fall. Behind those two players, junior Ellie Burger is enjoying early success on the year as she boasts an 8-1 record, two straight wins and a 2-0 mark at the No. 3.
In doubles play, the Bears will rely on courts No. 1 and 2 to grab the early 1-0 advantage as the pairing of junior Claire Martin and sophomore Mara Presot is 0-4 at the No. 3.
Central Arkansas holds the all-time record over Missouri State at 4-0.

"I'm excited to play again. Missouri State and Omaha are going to be good teams, and this will be a good test for our last non-conference weekend. Hopefully it will get us prepared for Lamar and Corpus-Christi next weekend on the road."
