FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Central Arkansas experienced early success in the ITA Central Regional as two singles players and two teams made it to the second round of the tournament.

Heading into the matchups, the Bears saw an opportunity to have some success within the field. Regardless of how tough the competition was, UCA prepared themselves to succeed.

Singles:
The first individual that advanced to the second round was sophomore Chunxi Xin. UCA's No. 1 made quick work of North Texas's top player as she took the match in two sets 6-3, 6-2. Xin later fell in the round of 32 as she faced off against Mizzou's Wright.

Xin was one of two individuals who advanced to the second round of the ITA, as junior Yada Vasupongchai successfully made it to the round of 32. Vasuponchai bested one of Arkansas's singles competitors as she took the final point in the third set to win the match. Vasupongchai faced a similar challenge in the round of 32 but instead fell in the third set. 

Doubles:
Due to rain conditions, the ITA regional could only host some of the doubles events before day one concluded. The Bears were able to get in several different matches as two teams were able to advance to the next stages of the tournament. 

Starting off the No. 1 doubles squad for UCA, including Xin and sophomore Fuka Nonoyama, showcased why they have been the heart of the Bears doubles attack in the first round. The team defeated Missouri State's No. 1 doubles team with a score of 6-4. 

The freshmen duo of Maja Gledic and Sumomo Hamanaga continued their undefeated streak on the season as they advanced to the next round of the regional. The team defeated the Missouri squad of Nash and Bienzobas to advance on to the regional's next stages.
