CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Central Arkansas finished off the weekend strong as they pulled together a 6-2 singles record in the third round of the 2nd UCA Fall Invitational.
Flight 1 Singles:
Sophomore
Chunxi Xin got back to her winning ways as she won her third-round matchup against Louisiana Tech's Schuknect. Xin claimed the first set but fell in a close battle in the second before finishing strong in the final set to win the matchup. Xin finished the invitational with a 2-1 record after beating opponents from LTU and Missouri State.Â
Flight 2 Singles
Sophomore
Fuka Nonoyama finished her invitational undefeated as she took down Arkansas State's No. 2. Nonoyama continues her undefeated record this season as she improves to 5-0. She finished the invitational with victories over ASU, LTU and MSU. Â
Flight 3 Singles
Freshmen
Maja Gledic continued her stretch of success with a two-set victory against LTU. Gledic bested her opponents with ease as she secured two 6/2 set victories in both of her winning outings in the invitational.Â
Flight 4 Singles
Junior
Yada Vasupongchai finished the invitational undefeated as she had a three-set battle to end her singles competition. Â Vasupongchai won the first and third set to gift her a 3-0 record in the invitational and 5-1 record on the season.Â
Flight 5 Singles
Freshmen
Sumomo Hamanaga continued her impressive run as she claimed a victory in the third round to continue her undefeated season. Hamanaga defeated ASU, MSU and ORU on her way to an invitational sweep.Â
Flight 6 Singles
Freshmen
Jaeun Lee also continued her successful 2020 campaign as her three victories continue to add to her win count. Lee is the first UCA player to six wins this season as she claims victories over ORU, LTU and ASU.Â
Flight 1 Doubles
The dynamic duo of Xin and Nonoyama split their second and third-round results as they were able to claim a victory over MSU but fell short to ASU. The pair finishes the invitational at 2-1, which pushes their season record to 5-1.Â
Flight 2 Doubles
Vasupongchai and sophomore
Mei Ishimura played a similar situation to the Bears No. 1 squad as they fell in one round and won the other. The junior/sophomore pairing suffered their first loss of the season but remain in excellent standing with a 5-1 record on the season.Â
Flight 3 Doubles
Hamanaga and Gledic were the lone doubles team to continue their undefeated streak on the season as they defeated MSU, LTU and ASU. Their overall record stands at 6-0 on the season, which is a team-best.Â
Flight 4 Doubles
The freshmen duo of Lee and
Paulina Engback lost their second-round opener in close fashion as they drop the matchup to ASU 7/6. However, they quickly made up for it as they defeated the Oral Roberts squad in the third round with a score of 6/3.Â

The Bears are headed to Fayetteville, Ark. as they participate in the ITA regionals Oct. 22-25.Â
