UCA MEN TAKE DMR GOLD AT HOUSTON


    HOUSTON, Texas _ University of Central Arkansas junior Ajah Criner broke the school record in the 200 meters on Friday at the Howie Ryan Invitational hosted by the University of Houston.

    Criner, a junior from Stephens, Ark., ran a 24.54 to finish third overall. Criner was co-holder of the old record of 24.72 with Khadijah Smith. Criner also finished sixth in the 60 meters in 7.61 and was part of UCA's gold medal 4x400 squad (Victoria Campfield, Tyler Rose, Aliyah Robinson, Criner) that ran a 3:52.34.

    Tyler Rose finished seventh in the 400 meters (57.84) while Jordan Brock was ninth in the 800 meters (2:20.64). Hannah Noble finished eighth in the high jump (5-05), Lyndsey Hover was seventh in the pole vault (9-06.25) and Taylor Coleman was ninth in the triple jump (36-08.50).
    
    On the men's side, the relay team of freshman Hunter Henderson, junior Ryan Yarde, sophomore Shamal Sullivan and senior Julien Jeandree won gold in the distance medley relay in a time of 10:22.75. Sophomore Jordan Atkins ran an 8.32 to finish second in the 60-meter hurdles, while junior Jared Hamilton was fourth in the 800 meters (1:56.83).

    Henderson was also seventh in the mile run (4:23.61) and junior Jaron Hamilton was ninth (4;25.37). Sophomore Logan Hall finished fourth in the high jump (6-04.75) and freshman Jalal Taylor was 10th in both the long jump and triple jump.

   UCA also took two student-athletes to the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa. Freshman Gracie Hyde set a school record in the indoor mile at 4:58.42 and also ran a personal best 9:55.02 in the 3,000 meters. Alex Hanson ran a 1:55.70 in the 800 meters.

    UCA's next competition will be at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25 at the Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
