FRISCO, TEXAS - Freshman forward
Emma Hawkins has been named to the All-Southland Conference Second Team the league office announced this morning. The Forney, Texas native had an impressive rookie campaign, scoring five goals and adding five assists, including four goals and four assists in Southland Conference play.
Hawkins racked up over 1300 minutes in her first season and with the five goals and five assists, is one of two freshmen in the last decade to finish their rookie campaign with double digit points (15), the other being
Camille Bassett, who finished the 2015 campaign with 22 points.
Head Coach
Jeremy Bishop is pleased with his youngster's accomplishment and believes the future is bright for not only Hawkins, but his team as a whole.
"It's good to see Emma get recognized for her play this season. She was a dangerous attacking threat for us all season and we are really looking forward to see what she will accomplish over the next three years," said Bishop.
"As always, individual honors come from team success and didn't do enough this season to get more players recognized. I do believe we had several other players are also among the top players in the conference and I know that will show in the 2020."
