Men's Cross Country

UCA DOMINATES HOME CROSS COUNTRY MEET


    CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas dominated both the men's and women's divisions of the Central Arkansas Cross Country Challenge on Saturday morning at Beaverfork Lake Park.

    The UCA women won with 24 points, ahead of second-place Little Rock (61), John Brown University (87) and Oral Roberts (98) in the 11-team field. The UCA men's squad finished with 19 points, beating out Little Rock (66), John Brown (85) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (95) among a 10-team field.

    UCA also picked up four points in the Governor's I-40 Showdown with Little Rock to grab a 8.5 to 1.5 lead in the year-long, head-to-head matchup.

    On the women's side, UCA senior Taylor Dunn finished second in a time of 19:05.32 for the 5K course. Senior Alejandra Ruiz finished fifth in 19:17.17, followed by freshman Gracie Hyde in seventh (19:24.64) and junior Erin Woodward in eighth place (19:46.82).  Sophomore Charlotte Blair finished 12th in 20:11.10.

    On the men's side, UCA runners took four of the top five spots, led by freshman Thomas Cain, who won with a time of 16:08.50. Senior Brock Collins was second in a time of 16:19.87, followed by freshman Hunter Henderson in fourth (16:38.09) and junior Jared Hamilton in fifth (16:43.19).  Freshman Brent Borchert finished seventh (16:53.38) and senior Brant Cook eighth (16:53.38).
