Troy, Alabama – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team continued its season-opening appearance at the Troy Invitational on Sunday, facing off with the host Trojans and Louisiana Tech.
Central Arkansas split its two doubles tilts against the Trojans, with
Xylia Chunan Xiang and
Amiru Shimoguchi scoring a 6-4 win over Efriliya Herlina and Pei Ju Hseih before
Marli Van Heerden and
Pornpawee Pramethong dropped a 1-6 decision to Nancy Karaky and Sanae Ohta.
The Sugar Bears squared off with the Lady Techsters in singles play, going 3-0031 on the day. Xiang and
Hee-Jin Oh each pushed their records to 2-0 on the weekend, with Xiang scoring a 6-3, 4-6, (10-8) victory over Karla de la Luz and Oh taking down Paulina Cota 6-2, 6-2, while Shimoguchi earned her first win of the tournament with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Andrea Perez. Pramethong dropped a 3-6, 6-4, (9-11) decision to Sonia Chen.
