Men's Cross Country

MEN EIGHTH, WOMEN 12TH AT TEXAS A&M MEET

    COLLEGE STATION, Texas _ The University of  Central Arkansas men finished eighth and the women 12th on Saturday at the Texas A&M Invitational at the Dale Watts '71 cross country course.

    Sophomore Markus Schweikert led the Bears with a 19th-place finish, covering the 8K course in a time of 25:03.86. Junior Preston Borg finished 35th in 25:30.81, followed by sophomore Brock Collins in 67th (26:18.80), freshman Jaron Hamilton in 73rd (26:33.07), senior Grant Williams in 83rd (26:40.44), sophomore Alonzo Pollum in 84th (26:41.01) and sophomore Brant Cook in 118th (27:41.20).

    Host Texas A&M won the event with 33 points, while UCA was eighth out of 15 teams with 221 points.

    On the women's side, senior Brigette Caruthers finished 34th over the 6K course in a time of 21:55.45 as UCA was 12th out of 17 teams. Rice won the event with 70 points while UCA had 315.

    Sophomore Alejandra Ruiz finished 38th in a time of 22:02.45. Sophomore Taylor Dunn finished 108th (24:08.75), followed by freshman Kaylee Stewart in 110th (24:14.78), sophomore Sara Shaw in 117th (24:28.59) and junior Abby Foreman in 119th (24:33.72),   

    UCA runs next at the University of Arkansas Chili Pepper Festival next weekend in Fayetteville.
