Men's Cross Country

UCA SWEEPS XC CHALLENGE; CARUTHERS, SCHWEIKERT TAKE TITLES

    CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's and women's cross country teams swept the first Central Arkansas XC Challenge on Saturday morning at Beaverfork Lake Park, winning both individual and team titles.

    Senior Brigette Caruthers won the women's 4K race in a time of 14:23.8 as UCA finished with a score of 27 with five runners in the Top 10. Sophomore Taylor Dunn finished third in 14:45.1, followed by junior Abigail Topham in sixth (15:13.9), freshman Erin Woodward in seventh (15:24.0) and junior Addy Swaim in 10th (15:28.0).

    Junior Abbey Foreman fnished 12th (15:28.7), followed by sophomore Sara Shaw in 14th (15:30.5), senior Abbie Linna in 16th (15:36.5), freshman Kaylee Stewart in 22nd (16:00.7), junior Layne Sargeson in 27th (16:15.1), junior Madison Sellars in 44th (16:57.1), sophomore Skylar Lange in 46th (17:01.6), sophomore Caroline Daniels in 57th (17:28.4), sophomore Emily Phillips in 61st (17:35.1), sophomore Victoria Campfield in 67th (17:59.4) and sophomore Rhandi Jackson in 85th (19:55.9).

    On the men's side, UCA sophomore Markus Schweikert won the 6K race in a time of 18:42.7, with junior Preston Borg getting third in 18:54.5 and freshman Bill Kemboi grabbing fourth place in 18:56.8). Sophomore Brock Collins was sixth (19:09.9), senior Grant Williams was 12th (19:35.7), sophomore Alonzo Pollum was 14th (19:36.8) to round out UCA's Top 20 finishers.

    Freshman Iian Tonemah finishe d24th (20:31.5), followed by freshman Ian Smith in 26th (20:34.8), senior Andrew Simpson in 29th (21:01.9) and Woodrow Murray in 37th (21:33.0).

    UCA runs next at the Rhodes Invitational next weekend in Memphis.
