College Station, Texas – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team took the court for the second time in as many days on Thursday, taking on the Incarnate Word Cardinals in College Station. The Bears dominated the match, taking down UIW 4-1.
The Bears (9-5, 4-5 SLC) jumped out to a 1-0 by taking two of the three doubles matches. Allison Murphey and Kelsey Williams improved to 10-2 on the season with an 8-3 win over Matea Zemunik and Antea Dedic, while Kristina Horsikyan and Bianca Strukelj moved to 9-4 on the year by taking down Malisa Vatanadilok and Taryn Strahl 8-6 in the no. 3 match. The no. 1 match between UCA's Nataly Yoo and Cassidy Crawford and UIW's (2-19, 0-9 SLC) Rachel Sadiq and Sarah Savedra went unfinished.
UCA continued their dominant performance in singles play, taking three of the four matches played. Yoo pushed her record to 9-3 on the year by taking the no. 1 match 6-2, 6-0 over Sadiq, while Williams evened her record at 7-7 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Zemunik. Murphy was the final Bears to score a win, moving to 12-2 with a 6-0, 6-3 defeat of Vatanadilok in the no. 4 match. Strahl got the Cardinals their only point of the day, defeating Strukelj 6-4, 6-2 in the no. 5 match. The no. 3 match between Horsikyan and Savedra and the no. 6 match featuring Alvarez and Dedic went unfinished.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, taking on Abilene Christian at 3:00 PM. The match will take place at Burns Park in Little Rock, due to expected weather.
