BEARS’STREAK SNAPPED IN 6-1 LOSS AT ABILENE CHRISTIAN

Abilene, Texas – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team hit the road for Abilene, Texas on Friday. The Bears were looking to extend their Southland Conference winning streak to six matches, but came up short against Wildcats, falling 6-1.

Abilene Christian (16-5, 8-3 SLC) took an early lead, winning two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point. Cassidy Crawford and Kristina Horsikyan dropped the no. 2 match 8-4 to Erin Walker and Brittany Reed, while Sasha Ruocco and Krizia Buck lost a hard-fought no. 3 match against Nada Marjanovich and Emily Conrad by a score of 8-7 (7-1). The no. 1 match between Central Arkansas' (12-10, 5-7 SLC) Kelsey Williams and Allison Murphy and Abilene Christian's Kaysie and Michah Hermsdorf went unfinished.

The Bears were able to win just one of the six singles matches on the day. Crawford dropped the first set of the no. 4 match, but rallied to take down Kaysie Hermsdorf 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. In the no. 1 match, Simona Horsikyan fell to Micah Hermsdorf by a score of 6-1, 7-6 (7-5), while Williams dropped the no. 2 match against Reed by a final tally of 6-1, 6-0. Kristina Horsikyan lost in the no. 3 match 7-5, 6-2 to Walker, and in the no. 5 match Krizia Buck lost to Marjanovich 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. In the no. 6 match, Bianca Strukelj fell to Emily Conrad by a score of 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-5).

Central Arkansas will play their final match of the regular season on Tuesday, welcoming in-state opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff to the Central Arkansas Tennis Courts. The Bears and Lady Lions will face off at 3:30 P.M.
